It’s been a while. (Let the excuses commence.)

A couple weeks back Erica left for sunny Miami and the lesbian-o-rama known as Aqua Girl. She took my laptop with her. I agreed to let her take it because she has a desktop in our apartment and I figured I could use that. Turns out, I don’t like typing on her desktop. Because she is abnormally small for a human adult, her set up doesn’t work for me. Plus none of my images are on there and the location of the programs on her dock is all wrong. I hate it. So I didn’t post the whole time she was gone. Then she came back.

She returned on a Monday and the following Tuesday I began a week-long bartending stretch were I worked every night until at least 3 in the morning, if not later. So, then I was tired.

Somewhere in there Chulo and I had The Week in Medicine. This included stitches and dental extractions for him and an Ace bandage and a tetanus shot for me. I did start a post about The Week in Medicine, but I just never got around to finishing it.

You guys, I hate being such a lame ass about posting on a regular basis. You may remember my resolution to post daily and my subsequent failure to do so a mere nine days later. I even enlisted my friend J to email and give me shit if I didn’t post daily. Unfortunately, he is as slack as I am about stuff like that.

I don’t know. I write in my head all the time. I actually sit down and type out drafts pretty frequently. It’s just that getting the posts to a state where I feel okay with publishing them online is kind of a hassle. Things like adding photos and links take time. The dog has to be walked in between writing sessions. We have a television. There’s tutoring and bartending and limping and folding laundry and sweeping the floor. There are a lot of factors that keep me from hitting the “Publish” button.

I want to write something significant today, but I’ve got a lot to do. I’ve got friends coming over this weekend so I have to clean and figure out why the garden hose isn’t working. Erica and I are going to prom TONIGHT and I still don’t know what to wear. I need to go grocery shopping and make a podiatrist appointment and see if I can get my payroll information for the past four weeks. On top of that, tonight marks the beginning of a new season of So You Think You Can Dance. I’m busy. Busy busy busy.

So, for now, I’ll leave you with an article from, “The Kansas City Star”, about Marie Osmond, Southern Discomfort’s Mormon Mom of the Week.

We knew there was a reason we liked Marie Osmond.

The mother of eight told “Entertainment Tonight” she is completely supportive of her eldest child, Jessica, who is a lesbian.

“I love my daughter! She’s my baby girl, come on,” she said. “So what if she’s gay? She’s my daughter and she’s an amazing woman and a good kid. I raised her, she better be good.”

She went on to preach that her Mormon faith did not keep her from loving her daughter, given her sexual orientation.

“I think it’s sad when we have to separate something from society. Whether it’s, ‘Oh you’re Jewish,’ and then it was ‘Oh you’re a Mormon,’ or ‘Oh you’re gay.’ I love real people,” Osmond said. “A lot of women out there have gay children. Who cares? I want love. I’m a Christian and Christ loved everybody.”

Earlier this month Osmond confirmed to a Los Angeles radio station that her daughter is a lesbian and spoke then about her views on same-sex marriage.

“You know, on those types of things I’m very supportive. When it comes to marriage, I think that civil rights need to be for all,” Osmond said to the radio interviewer.

“When you start mixing religion into that and beliefs, you know, I do believe in the Bible. My daughter understands my beliefs. And, you know, God said to be married and be productive with your children and, you know, replenish the earth or whatever. She understands those things. My daughter is sharp. And we have a great relationship and I think she would tell you that.”
