Politics vs. Project Runway
So — did you see Project Runway tonight? Or did you watch CNN for three hours waiting for the Senate vote that was, “taking place within minutes”? I kind of did both. I, like everyone else over 30, have been glued to politics since the big debate last week.
By glued, I mean I check in with CNN once or twice a day - usually because my boss is watching it in his office — and I actually read the first paragraph of every article on the front page of the Times before flipping to the Arts section to do the crossword.
I only realized that the Senate vote was tonight because my girlfriend is completely addicted to CNN these days.
That and she reads the Times daily. And when I say “reads”, I don’t mean how I “read” the Times. She actually reads it. She says things like, “Just let me see the Op-Ed section and then we’ll go to brunch.” Who is this person? When Erica and I first got together I think she had read maybe five books ever. If that. And this was one of them:
Now she’s forgoing our reality TV rituals for reality. Or at least for reality according to the media.
Anyway. So, Erica is addicted to CNN and now every time I turn on our television, I’m greeted by Larry King or Wolf Blitzer. Which is how I ended up waiting for the Senate to vote. Once the woman whose show goes off at nine said, “Well, I guess Larry will get to report on the Senate vote,” I switched over to my DVR lineup of ANTM, Project Runway and Top Design.
People, I really try to care about politics but I’ve got priorities.
