You might not believe in Tarot, but …

As I start writing this post, it’s almost 5AM and I’ve been awake since probably 2:30. I’m not sure because I lay in bed for a long time before I checked the time, hoping I’d fall back to sleep. I didn’t.

First there was just the me being awake part. Then Chulo decided to join the party. He asked to go outside. Then he came back in. Then he wanted out again. Then he ate grass. Then he came back in. Then he went back outside where he burped and vomited like a frat boy after a kegger. The burping part was actually pretty impressive. Then he came back in and he fell right to sleep. I however, have not.

I’ve Tweeted, I’ve Facebooked, I’ve caught up on status updates and message threads from the past three days, I’ve read a couple of blog articles and moments ago I decided to take a 1/2 an Ambien and forgo any hope of getting up before 11. As I closed out my HootSuite app, I saw my Goddess Tarot icon and decided to get a quick reading before I drugged myself into a 6-hour coma.

Here’s what happened. I opened up the app to the screen where you choose the type of reading you want.

I chose a Past-Present-Future reading.

I took a moment to center my thoughts as per the directions, and once I formulated my question, I asked: Why am I constantly awake in the middle of the night? Here’s the reading I got:

Card One (symbolizes the past): Prince of Swords

The Prince of Swords brings the power of language to any area of life where it is needed. Verbal and written communications received now are especially important and offer new clarity. If you are feeling a need for these forces, he promises the ability to be articulate, to find the words necessary to create the life we want. Alternately, this card can symbolize a young person who possesses these talents.

Card Two (symbolizes the present): Nine of Swords

The Nine of Swords signifies thoughts that circle endlessly as they seek resolution. These obsessive concerns are often ignored during the day only to appear when we should be sleeping, creating insomnia or unpleasant dreams. This card offers the hope of release from this stressful state. Sometimes it may also suggest guilt over an unresolved situation.

Card Three (symbolizes a possible future): Eight of Staves

The Eight of Staves offers release from a frustrating lack of communication. This flurry of new information makes us feel as though life is progressing again; we are full of hope and anticipation at what may happen next. Finally we learn what we need to know so we can move forward with confidence! Look for surprising or sudden messages from unexpected sources.

Card Four (offers an overview of the situation): King of Cups

Masterful and artistic, the King of Cups is able to express himself in relationships and work. How would it be to feel to own your talents, to be considered an authority? This card is [a] reminder of how good it feels to be honored, and paid accordingly, for our talents. To reach this goal takes a certain amount of self-esteem as well as an awareness of our worth within the marketplace. The King of Cups can also represent an older man who has attained the success symbolized by this card.

Come on … that seems pretty dead on balls accurate to me. Doesn’t it seem the same to you? Plus, the King of Cups message - This card is [a] reminder of how good it feels to be honored, and paid accordingly, for our talents - falls right in line with my emails from the Universe that remind me from time to time about my impending writing career with abundant wealth.

Seriously. Dead on balls accurate.

Get ready, dear readers … we’re about to have some company. Mama’s going big time!
